Dr. Keating is a fully Board-Certified Ophthalmologist and Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology with the LSU New Orleans Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Keating is currently practicing at Azar Eye Clinic in Lafayette and teaching clinic and surgery to ophthalmology residents at University Hospital and Clinics in Lafayette.
Dr. Keating prides himself in providing personalized and individualized care to his patients and he is continually studying and researching the newest and most advanced treatment options in order to provide the best visual outcomes for his patients.
Dr. Keating holds an expertise in comprehensive ophthalmology and eye surgery with an emphasis on bladeless all-laser cataract surgery, all-laser LASIK surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, and medical retina evaluation.
Dr. Keating is the inventor and co-founder of the SightScholar electronic eye chart, an all-in-one system used to asses visual acuity and educate patients on various eye conditions and their treatment options.
Dr. Keating was raised in Opelousas and attended high school at Opelousas Catholic. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University, where he graduated Cum Laude in 2006. Furthering his education, he graduated with his Doctor of Medicine from the Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport in 2011.
After obtaining his medical degree he completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University, where he received numerous honors including being named chief resident.
Dr. Keating is fully certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. The American Board of Ophthalmology(ABO) is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists (eye physicians and surgeons) in the United States. Founded in 1916, the ABO was the first American board established to certify medical specialists and is one of 24 specialty boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and the American Medical Association (AMA).
